Styletiles
“Style tiles establish a direct connection with actual interface elements without defining layout”
Style tiles essentially are where mood boards and mockups meet in the middle, becoming a mix with a focus visual language. Ignoring the layout allows for a clear & strong visual language to be set, without the worry of layout.
Working with clients
1. Listen, have a survey ready tailored to the client to guide the stylesheet.
2. “Aggregate adjectives” to find themes which then translate to design principles.
3. Define the visual language with the stylesheets, these give a point of reference for the client.
4. Iterate, ignoring the layout allows you to clearly show your visual language.
Content Audit
This is an audit for the content on my original portfolio site from last year, which was a bit rubbish. However, I looked at all the work on the page and labelled it accordingly in order to examine and evaluate my new work.
Site Map
I designed a site map to make going into creating my portfolio website a little bit easier, this outlines the way i imagine the websites to run and work, showing how different pages will link.
Zombie Icon MA
I decided to focus my icon set on ‘Happy Halloween Icons’ due to the time of the year it is. I will lead into designing different ghouls and monsters from the spookiest time of the year.
Daniel Haire
I love the icons which are featured within the gif, they’re very detailed and follow a clear style, I would love to tie something like this into my own icon design and the level of detail used would be effective and allow my to develop my icon design skills, this would perhaps make a good master apprentice exercise.
Justas owns Icontopia and he is a 25 year old living in Lithuania. His website aims to help people to understand and make a steady living off being a icon designer. All his designs are very tight and accurate as he is a renowned designer. His website will be very useful for this project as it rounds up lots of icon design from the internet and he gives his favourites.
MUTI Studio - Iconography
MUTI are a studio from Capetown, South Africa. They have worked with a variety of clients including the likes of Nike, Uniqlo, Facebook, Google and Uber.
MUTI’s designs all have tightly focused colour palettes combined with simple icon design in order to have effective design. However, I prefer the more detailed designs with figures relating to the icons.
